Nathan, let me simply quote one of our recent users (notice that RallyDev is the leader of agile PM):

>I guess it would be the SW part of Yoxel that
>interested me the most. We had started using
>rallydev.com for agile development use. I wasn't
>very impressed with Rally's interface and there
>didn't appear to be any way to export our data
>if we outgrew them. Yoxel's ability to synchronizes
>with Bugzilla and potentially Subversion were also
>key features I was looking for that aren't practical
>with Rally or the software as a service model.

I do not want to focus on "Agile" that much right now, the term is becoming highly overused. Yoxel is specifically about software and IT projects and by providing its own request tracker or integrating with any external web-based bug-tracker (Bugzilla, Mantis, GNATS, Retrospectiva, Trac, ...) it brings PMs and developers closer, for better collaboration and more real-time project tracking. That is what is missing from most other PM solutions!

Yoxel is also a customer portal so PMs and developers
get better customer collaboration opportunities and feedback.

Yoxel has an open source version that you can install on your premises and a few other solutions for
field support, and sales: YOXEL KB and YOXEL SLS.

I hope I answered your question.

PS: btw, here is another interesting PM tool, http://www.wrike.com/. Check it out.

Alexey,
You mentioned http://WWW.Clarizen.com as being great for general (I read traditional?) PMs.I am interested to know what features http://www.Yoxel.com has that Clarizen does not that make it more suitable for software PMs? I have 7 years of PM experience but only about 6 months of Agile experience. What am I missing in Yoxel?

Howard,

I have just taken a cursory look. Makes sense for more general PM, just like BaseCamp or Clarizen.

Yoxel is more specifically focuses on serious software development and IT organizations. Product Management for
software and IT products. Probably wont me a good tool for marketing teams. Here is a example of feedback we are getting from SW/IT professionals:

>I see many valuable features for a Project Manager,
>Developer or Test Engineer. From my Business Analyst
>perspective, I can appreciate how it would allow use with
>several simultaneous projects of diverse sizes and
>technical approaches.
>
>The fact that it is open source and on free/low-cost
>platform is compelling as well. I'm glad to know about it.

As for your question about the change. I am not sure if I understand exactly which "change" you're talking about but in
our product management context the change is coming from
a customer or market (change in product requirements). Agile is just an approach to help you better deal with the change.

As for Web2.0, these days, I am not sure anymore what people mean by this. I guess "richer web-based apps" with user generated
content? Clarity of communication always helps (that is BaseCamp's motto btw), no doubts.

Thank you for your comment.

Have you taken a look at Vertabase (http://www.vertabase.com) - a project management tool for group collaboration that is designed for marketing teams? Because the systems make use of Web2.0 tools the collaborative power teams get enhanced through the natural collaboration that happens in Web2.0 environments. Is it Agile or Web2.0 that is the real driving factor of change?
